Obituary for
Michael Amodeo
In Memory of the Legendary Auctioneer Michael Amodeo.
Born July 26, 1941.
He had lost his father to an illness at the young age of 8.
Mr. Amodeo, the only child, lived with his beloved mother in the Italian neighborhood of East Harlem on the upper East Side of Manhattan.
At 16 years old, He was peddling on the street and making a good income that was more than an average 40 year old adult at the time.
He had decided to quit high school, where he was expected to continue to concentrate on architecture, as he was always gifted with mathematics.
One day, he asked his mother to come to his school to sign his release form to quit school so he can work to express his desire to achieve greatness!
This was a common practice at the time. His mother, angered by the decision he made, slapped him on the face and with great hesitation, signed the form in tears.
Everyone that knows him, knows his passion and desire to be the best. All this effort and motivation was inspired by his mother.
After all, He always prided himself in providing the type of life his mother could only dreamed of!
