Our Renaissance man was George

In every way, our friend George exhibited such talent and creativity as his indomitable spirit was reflected in all he did. His varied abilities were evident in all he pursued from his art to his reflections in his writing  - all revealed a person of such unique worth whom we all esteemed beyond measure.

Over 35 years ago, in 1986,  I was asked by our beloved friend Vincent Carbonaro to organize and celebrate George's retirement from the faculty of John Jay High School. That celebration which was attended by more than 200 people, all of whom came to honor and show respect for our George, remains to this day the best retirement party that we ever had experienced in terms of camaraderie and support for such a special person as George was.

I was fortunate to be part of such a wonderful person's life as I consider it an honor to have been his friend and I extend my warmest regards to his beloved Evy and his daughter Paulette and everyone in the Manos family who will remember that such a beautiful man graced our  lives with his incredible essence. He was and always will remain our Renaissance man.
