Obituary for Nicholas Micheal Nelson

On Wednesday, January 11th, 2023 in Staten Island, NY Nicholas “Nicky” Nelson was taken from us way too soon, but the memories and all the moments we shared with him will forever live in our hearts.

He was born on June 14th, 1985 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Xaverian High school in 2003 and then went on to attend John Jay College where he pursued his career in criminal justice. He was accepted into the police academy and successfully became a NYPD Officer in 2008. He had a successful career in various precincts and was an NCO (Neighborhood Community Officer), which was the highlight of his career. Nicholas was promoted to detective in October of 2016 for all of his efforts to get weapons off the streets and make the community a safer place for everyone.

Nicholas was a flag football coach for his sons team “The Tigers” and Nick lead them to 2 back to back championships. He loved his family and friends and he was happiest when he was spending time with them, Nicky was always the life of the party; his smile and energy lit up any room he entered. He was a huge sports fan especially the Yankees (of course), LSU and the J-E-T-S , J-E-T-S, J-E-T-S! He loved Game of Thrones and anything Prince!

He is survived by his parents Darlene Willams-Jenkins , Jeff Jenkins and Micheal Nelson. His siblings Najee & Nsenga , his partner in life, Angelica “Charlie” Pagan. His “sister” Fatima , his “brother ” Andrew and “Nephew” Che Che. He leaves behind four children who he loved more than words could describe; his son(s) Nichai Nelson (14) , Nicholas Nelson Jr. (7), and daughter(s) Charlie Q’uana Nelson(2) and Frankie Luz Nelson(1). His other Mothers' Phyllis, Pam , Simone and Cynthia. Uncles' Gregory, Jess, Leon , Tyrone, Richard , Lamont and Cory . His Aunts Keisha, Siren , Karen, and Connie. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, extended family and friends.

Friends and family are welcome to join the family in a Celebration of Life for Nicky! It will be held this afternoon at Knights of Columbus located at: 397 Clarke Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10306 at 1PM - 4:30 PM.
