Fran was born on November 27, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Our Lady Help Of Christian Grammar School and Saint Saviour High School and remained a very active alumna. She was a devoted and loving wife and mom for over fifty years, and a wonderful grandmother in more recent years. Fran was a passionate and dedicated softball coach and loved by all that knew her. She loved all sports, especially baseball, basketball and volleyball. Fran loved going to the beach at Breezy Point, NY and enjoyed the pool and summer nights with her family at the Breezy Point Surf Club. She loved talking to her friends and family daily and was always there to talk and listen to those who needed her, or just to offer a good laugh! Fran was a die-hard NY Mets fan and some would even say, their Number One fan, in both good times and bad. Fran was Mama Met to all the kids and everyone admired her passion for the team. Her seat at Citifield will never be filled by a more devoted fan. Fran loved spending time with her family and her dog. Fran and Joe were truly soulmates and best friends, and she will be greatly missed by Joe and all who had the great fortune of knowing her.
Those who so desire, may make memorial donations in memory of Fran to The Be Kind For Kaitlyn Foundation (http://www.sweetkaitlynrose.com), founded in memory of her granddaughter Kaitlyn Rose Bernhardt who passed tragically in 2018 from pediatric cancer.
